Since I seem to be doing the Meg's house edition of Antiques Road Show lately I thought I show off this dragon, which is actually one of a set of two.  At the old house they were on either end of my mantel, facing each other, but as I have no mantel here I'm still not sure what to do with them.  Still, they are one of my favorite finds.

Just had a long (wonderful) couple of days and was caught in a rain storm on the way home, so what better time to revive my practice of taking self-portraits than a time when I'm tired and wet and my mascara is all smeared.  Brilliant idea.

Empty

Our old house is completely empty and ready for the renters to move in tomorrow, so I took pictures of everything today for our records (we are hoping not to be "landlords" for long, but for a while that is how it has to be).  Above is a photo from my daughter's old bedroom, which has these trees that I painted on her walls when I was very pregnant (bad idea, by the way, to stand on a chair and paint when you are 8 months pregnant, if you were wondering).  It was one of the many things about this house that I am having a hard time leaving.  I wonder how long it will take before this new place starts to feel like home...

So much unpacking left to do (this isn't the half of it).  At least we have a basement to pile a lot of stuff into for now (didn't have a basement at the old house).  Though it kind of makes me think, if we can put it in the basement and completely forget about it and not miss it for weeks or months, do we really need it?  My answer would be no, but my husband's pack-ratty ways would say yes.  

Invasion of the pillow snatcher

Josie's been bunking with me lately, especially since the move, which I really don't mind at all and kind of enjoy, until she tries to take over my pillow in the middle of the night.  She did show some interest today in sleeping in her new room, so maybe we will give it a try tomorrow.
